Chile: Shipping group denies monopoly in Los Lagos region

 |  September 11, 2017

Representatives of the Armasur shipping group have denied that their members have fostered a monopoly in shipping services for the Los Lagos region, in response to allegations by a rival group, CUT Llanquihue.

CUT accused two companies aligned with Armasur, Solvtrans and Pfipfisk, of having entered Chile without respecting the Law of Navigation, as well as various restrictions imposed by Chilean legislation.

The general manager of Armasur, Manuel Bagnara, said that one cannot speak of a monopoly in the area, since they represent several companies and, within that context, they must support all members of their group.
