E.U.: Sources say Commission to drop investigation into Thomson Reuters, accept remedies

Two sources have gone to the media to disclose information, claiming that the European Commission will end an investigation into Thomson Reuters that began over whether the media firm was anticompetitive in its control over financial instrument codes and abused its dominance in the financial data market. The authorities wanted to ensure that consumers could gain access to financial data at reasonable rates from Thomson Reuters’s competitors. Since the investigation began in 2009, the company has offered various concessions, including an offer to reduce license fees.
