EU To Turn Up The Heat In Gazprom Probe: Report

According to Reuters, the EU’s competition watchdog is  likely to intensify its probe on Gazprom’s European businesses.

Last month EU antitrust chief Margrethe Vestager said she had asked gas companies including Gazprom about tight supplies after accusations the Russian giant was withholding extra production that could be released to lower soaring prices.

The EU competition enforcer has yet to make a final decision on the next stage of the investigation, the person said. A fact-finding exercise could however help it build a case, reported Reuters.

The company and the Kremlin have repeatedly denied withholding gas supplies, saying that all firm and long-term obligations have been met.
