French Drugmaker Accused of Monopolizing Online Pet Meds Market

A US subsidiary of French veterinary pharmaceutical company Ceva Sante Animale was hit with an antitrust suit in Kansas federal court claiming it monopolized the market for animal anti-anxiety drugs by cutting out its distributors, reported Bloomberg Law. 

“This is the rare case where the would-be monopolist previewed for its leading competitor a plan to restrict access to products, seize control of the market, impose discriminatory pricing, acquire monopoly power, and raise prices,” the suit claims.

It accuses Ceva Animal Health, which makes up to 90% of the pheromone-based products, of breaching its supply contract with H&C Animal Health.

Ceva Animal Health was founded  in 1999 and has since grown rapidly to become the sixth largest animal health group globally.
