Mexico Begins Search For New Antitrust Head

 |  June 22, 2021
Recently, the Economic Commission of the Mexican Chamber of Senators began the procedure to elect a new president who must be elected from among the Cofece commissioners.

In September of this year, Alejandra Palacios leaves the presidency of the Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece). While she can continue as a commissioner until 2022, she cannot be reelected as president. For this reason, the complex process of succession has formally begun.

In recent days, under said procedure, three commissioners appeared to deliver their project and be considered. Ana María Resendiz, Alejandro Faya and Eduardo Mendoza applied by presenting an essay and presented their positions and projects before a group of senators. Only Commissioner Brenda Hernández, who decided not to run, was left out.
