Mexico’s competition commission COFECE has indicted various economic agents involving varying degrees of violations to the country’s competition laws. These include a likely case of collusion in the latex sector, as well as relative monopolistic practices in the industrial oxygen market.
The COFECE’s investigation unit has reported findings which strongly suggest the existence of contracts, agreements or arrangements between supposed competitors in latex manufacturing. The companies, which have not been named, would have artificially fixed the price of the products in question or exchanged confidential information with the same effect. These companies may also have coordinated their participation in a number of public contract bids and auctions.
The agency also reported findings of possible monopolistic practices in the industrial oxygen sector, including contracts, agreements or procedures established between a number of companies with substantial market power with the intention of pushing out other competitors.
