 |  April 9, 2018
Mexico’s Federal Commission for Economic Competition (COFECE) has launched an investigation into possible monopolistic practices in the corn tortilla market in two locations in the southern state of Chiapas.

Tortilla is a staple product for Mexican families. In Chiapas 77% of the population is at or below the poverty line, meaning alterations to this market can have serious consequences for 4,114,000 people.
