 |  October 22, 2018

The Federal Commission of Economic Competition (COFECE) of Mexico announced the end of a process against various economic agents for their probable responsibility in carrying out absolute monopolistic practices in the market for the production, distribution, and sale of toothbrushes, in a new case affecting the country’s public health system.

The investigation began on October 10, 2016, and ended on August 9, 2018. In this regard, the Investigating Authority has said that it knows of possible agreements to establish or coordinate positions for abstaining from participating in public bids or contests.

Following notification to the economic agents, the next stage of the process begins, in charge of the Technical Secretariat of the COFECE, in which the entities charged will be able to offer proof and statements related to the accusations made against them.
