The Permanent Commission of Mexico’s Senate has received COFECE’s Second Quarterly Report for 2015. The document, presented before the Senate Commerce and Industrial Development Commission and the Chamber of Deputies’ Economy Commission, details COFECE’s work on up to 34 cases of company Mergers, as well as dozens of cases in absolute monopolistic practices and market rigging.
Regarding the promotion of competition culture, the report outlines three areas of action: ‘promoting regulatory frameworks and public policy which favors economic competition; positioning economic competition and free enterprise high on the public agenda; and pushing for further recognition of the Commission in the world stage.
COFECE’s international prestige was highlighted, as evidenced by their high score in Global Competition Review’s annual ranking, which measures the performance of competition regulators. Mexico placed among such well-regarded countries as Chile, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland.
