Mexico: Head of research at COFECE joins Creel

Law firm Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza and Enríquez, which specilizes in corporate issues such as economic competition, commercial competition and financial restructuring, has announced that Carlos Mena Labarthe, former member of the Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE), along with Eduardo Flores Herrera of the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV), will be joining the firm as partners.

Mena served as head of the research unit in COFECE since the agency’s restructuring after legal reforms in 2013.

The incorporation of both lawyers is considered a success for the firm because of the extensive experience that the two former officials have in various matters affecting Mexican corporations, such as the application of the Federal Law on Economic Competition and Securities Market Law.
