Peru: INDECOPI urges local governments to eliminate barriers to competition

Peruvian regulator INDECOPI has urged new municipal authorities to eliminate illegal or unreasonable bureaucratic barriers to competition, as well as to refrain from engaging in acts of unfair competition with the private sector.

In a document sent to incoming local authorities, the regulator informed them regarding actions taken by the commissions for the Elimination of Bureaucratic Barriers and the Control of Unfair Competition to promote free competition in the economy.

For its part, the Commission for the Elimination of Bureaucratic Barriers (CEB) and the Commissions of the Regional Offices offered to guide the new municipal authorities in their compliance with the Anti-Barrier Law and the principle of administrative simplification.
