Spain: Millions in fines for three-decade envelope cartel

Spain’s antitrust authority, the CNC, has issued nearly $57 million in fines to companies found to have taken part in an envelope cartel for more than three decades. In a press release, the CNC announced that it began an investigation in March of 2011 into several companies for fixing prices and colluding to share market-sensitive information in the paper envelopes market. Additionally, inspections were held in some of the companies. The CNC finalized its investigation after finding evidence of a cartel inexistence between 1977 and 2010.
