UK: Casino group in $2.6bn merger talks with online rival

 |  July 24, 2016

Casino operator Rank Holdings is currently in talks with online rival 888 Holdings regarding creating a 2 billion pounds ($2.6 billion) gambling group, the Sunday Times reported.

Discussions between the companies are “relatively advanced” and an announcement could be made any time.

A tie-up between the two groups would be the latest in a series of major deals in a consolidating industry facing tighter regulations and rising taxes.

888 had agreed to buy UK-listed Bwin.party last year, but ultimately lost in favor of a higher offer from GVC Holdings.
