US: Ex-Patton Boggs antitrust partner leaves Pillsbury Winthrop

An antitrust lawyer who left Patton Boggs to join Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has announced he is leaving Pillsbury Winthrop due to a possible conflict of interest stemming from his position at Patton Boggs.

Reports say Benjamin Chew said he will leave the new firm after joining earlier this year. Chew left Patton Boggs, where he headed its antitrust practice.

In a statement, Chew said that his “departure is exclusively due to a potential conflict relating to [his] prior affiliation with Patton Boggs,” though did not elaborate.

Reports say that while this is not necessarily why Chew left Pillsbury Winthrop, the antitrust lawyer one worked on a case at Patton Boggs against Chevron, a longtime client of Pillsbury Winthrop.
