MootComp is the largest Moot Court contest focused on antitrust law and economics. This is the 5th edition and it has been attracting students from most relevant Spanish speaking universities in Latin America, including countries like Mexico, Peru, Colombia, etc.
Since it’s incipiency, MootComp numbers have grown 100% annually reaching, in its last 2020 edition, 480 Participants; 118 Teams; 52 Universities; 98 Coaches; 130 Judges.
MootComp’s mission is threefold:
- Lead: To provide a unique forum to lead and anticipate key analysis of issues in antitrust & competition law and policy.
- Train: To prepare future professionals through a multidisciplinary approach and case-studies.
- Network: To promote networking between the main proponents and practitioners of these subjects at the international level.
Teams of students are given a hypothetical case and are called to defend their position, first in writing and then in oral hearings. Teams act as either a Competition Authority or as an Economic Agent defending their conduct.
